How Nigerians Abroad Can Renew Passports Without Embassy Visit

0

The Nigeria Immigration Service has introduced a Contactless Passport Application System allowing eligible Nigerians abroad to renew passports without visiting embassies for biometric enrolment.

According to NIS, applicants can apply online, pay fees, opt for contactless service, complete biometric enrolment via the NIS Mobile App, and send their passport to the processing embassy. Applications can be tracked two weeks after submission. NIS urged Nigerians to use only official channels.

Key Points:

Diaspora Nigerians save travel costs and time with remote passport renewal.
Contactless system improves convenience and reduces embassy congestion.
Applicants without smartphones may struggle to access the digital process.
Eligibility restrictions mean some Nigerians must still visit embassies physically.
Streamlined renewal could strengthen ties with diaspora communities.

Eligible Nigerians abroad should apply through the official NIS portal and app. Those found ineligible must book physical appointments at their chosen embassy.
