The Independent National Electoral Commission has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to dismiss a suit by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar accusing President Bola Tinubu of submitting forged certificates.

INEC argued the suit is an abuse of judicial process and that Atiku lacks legal standing. The commission said it does not manufacture or procure certificates submitted by candidates and that mere receipt of documents does not constitute determination of authenticity.

Atiku alleges Tinubu submitted a forged NYSC discharge certificate bearing the name “Tinubu Bola Adekunle.” Justice Inyang Ekwo fixed September 28 for further proceedings.
