During an interview shared by DAILY TRUST on Saturday September 27 2025, Ibrahim said his career began with a modest role as a messenger, earning between £7 and £10 per month. Despite the limited income, he remained focused and disciplined, determined to save whatever he could.
He said he used a traditional method known as Antikurya to store his savings a hidden pocket designed to keep money secure and out of reach. This technique according to him, allowed him to protect his earnings over a nine-month period, preparing him for the next phase of his journey.
He said that once he had saved enough, he left his job and began selling clothes.
This small but strategic move marked the beginning of his entrepreneurial path, eventually leading to the establishment of Sahad Stores.
His words,
“I began my journey as a messenger in a company, earning between £7 and £10 a month. I worked there for nine months, carefully saving a few pounds in an Antikurya, a hidden pocket used in those days to keep money safe. It was so discreet that retrieving money from it was nearly impossible without the owner’s knowledge. Once I had saved enough, I decided to leave the job and start selling clothes.”
His experience continues to inspire aspiring entrepreneurs across Nigeria who hope to build success from modest beginnings.
