A video showing hundreds of heavily armed bandit leaders and their foot soldiers celebrating the successful conclusion of another dialogue in Katsina State has surfaced on social media.

In the video shared on the Facebook page of Katsina News Daily, the bandits were seen engaging in an improvised bike race with gunshots in the background.

A post accompanying the video read:

“It’s scary; look how the locals and Fulani herdsmen armed with guns invaded the Dutsinma-Katsina highway, racing on their motorcycles, to celebrate the signing of a peace agreement in the local government.”

In the past month, several communities in the state have been in the news for organizing peace meetings with bandits in a bid to persuade them to embrace peace and end terrorism.

The meetings have elicited mixed reactions among Nigerians, with many condemning them.

Others, however, applauded the initiatives as solutions to criminalities in the North, particularly Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi States.
