Kidnappers:He Called A Name & Said “Alhaji Said We Should Bring Two Girls.I Said“I Want To Go”—Modey
A young Nigerian woman, Licia Modey, has recounted her shocking experience of being kidnapped in Abuja after she and her colleagues boarded a random taxi while returning from work one night.
Narrating her ordeal during an interview on The Lucky Udu Experience, Modey narrated that she was seated in the back seat with her colleague when the driver drove past their usual stop. “As we were approaching my destination, the driver passed the junction we were supposed to stop,” she said.
She explained that moments later, the driver and his accomplices locked the doors and demanded their bags.
“My other colleague was very scared, and they said, ‘Your bags.’ I brought out my bag, and my other colleague also brought out hers. Her ID card was inside her bag.”
“The guy said, ‘Ifeoma,’ and my colleague, out of fear, said, ‘My name is not Ifeoma, it’s Ufuoma.’ He said, ‘Alhaji said we should bring two girls.’ There was a name they called, and I was like, ‘Oga, I want to go,’” Modey recounted.
She added that during the ordeal, she surprisingly remained calm.
“They said everybody put your head down. I was still eating my ponmo,” she said, laughing lightly as she remembered the incident.
When asked if she wasn’t scared, Modey replied, “I don’t know sha, but that fear was not there. To me, it was still like a film. I was still eating my ponmo, trying to open the door.”
