According to The Vanguard, Onoh made his comments after Bayo Onanuga, who is the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Tinubu, warned on Monday that the court would decide whether Jonathan is eligible to run in 2027.

However, Onoh disagreed with Onanuga, reminding him that this issue has already been settled in favour of Jonathan and cannot be reopened unless there is a complicated legal situation.

Onoh emphasized that it is up to the people of Nigeria to decide who should lead them and that President Bola Tinubu’s government will respect the rights of all candidates to run for office.

While speaking to reporters in Yenegoa, Bayelsa state, on Tuesday, after getting the official copy of the ruling, Onoh explained that Jonathan’s eligibility based on the constitutional limits has been confirmed by previous court decisions, which have established that Jonathan is allowed to participate in future elections without question.

He said, “Therefore, President Tinubu shouldn’t be deceived by anyone telling him otherwise. This was exactly how Jonathan’s inner cabal during the build up to 2015 elections deceived him into believing that he was invisible, that Nigerians loved him, to the extent he was too carried away that he felt invisible and never saw Tinubu coming.”
