Iranian Judiciary Says Israel’s Mossad Trusted Spy Bahman Choubi Asl Executed
According to a report by Iranian News Agency IRNA on Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, Iran has carried out the execution of Bahman Choubi Asl, an Iranian national convicted of spying for Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, the Judiciary confirmed on Monday, Sept. 29.
According to the Judiciary’s official news outlet, Mizan, Choubi’s death sentence was upheld by Iran’s Supreme Court after his appeal was rejected. He was executed earlier in the day following what authorities described as “due legal process.”
The report identified Choubi as one of Mossad’s “main and most trusted agents,” alleging that he played a key role in gathering sensitive information and sabotaging critical infrastructure inside Iran. Authorities said he used his position as a senior manager at a knowledge-based company to infiltrate Iran’s telecommunications sector and other sensitive projects, giving him access to critical databases and governance systems.
Mizan reported that Choubi was first recruited by Mossad while attending a specialized database training course in a Persian Gulf country. During that trip, an individual claiming to represent a foreign company called ESMI approached him and later revealed his connection to the Israeli spy agency. Choubi allegedly accepted Mossad’s offer, undergoing further training in several countries abroad. Mossad is said to have financed his education, including language and technical courses, while compensating him for his missions.
Based on his confessions cited by Iranian authorities, Choubi’s assignments included granting Mossad access to government databases, attempting to disrupt Iran’s data centers, and sabotaging the country’s nuclear industry. Security officials also alleged that he helped Mossad infiltrate Iranian supply chains by facilitating the sale of faulty electronic equipment to local companies, which was then used to compromise vital operations.
The Judiciary claimed that Choubi’s level of access and training marked him as a highly trusted operative. Reports noted that he had traveled abroad 63 times to nine different countries, held 95 virtual meetings with Mossad officers, and received espionage devices and secure communication systems to conduct his missions.
