He started out as a messenger earning a small salary, saving what he could to begin trading fabrics. Using a bicycle to move goods around, he faced many difficulties but eventually opened a small shop. That shop grew into Sahad Stores, which is now a major retail brand in the region.

In a recent interview reported by DAILY TRUST on Saturday September 27 2025, Mijinyawa said he has visited nearly every country in the world not just as a traveler, but to do business.

He explained that he didn’t just pass through these places; he engaged with local markets and learned about their cultures.

His words,

“Although I’m not highly educated and do not speak English, there is no country in the world that I have not visited, and I didn’t just pass through; I conducted business in each one. Every country I’ve been to, I know deeply than people might expect.”
